Meetings
of the Bitterne Local History Society are held on the second Saturday of each
month (September to July) at 7.00pm in the Bitterne United Reformed Church Hall
(entrance in the Precinct, next to Bitterne Churchyard).
Reports are
made on the activities of the various Committees, local news etc. and usually
followed by talks, frequently illustrated via slide shows or video, on local
history topics. These cover such diverse subjects as, for example, the history
of:
Southampton
Parks; Railways; Trams; Cinemas; Methodist Society, Roman Clausentum, Medieval
Bitterne Manor, as well as archive photographs of Old Southampton, Bitterne
etc.
